Possible Transit Shutdown (Nov. 27th to 29th)

Bus service throughout Metro Vancouver could be shut down for three days starting Wednesday, November 27, if the region's labour dispute is not resolved. (See related news item here(link is external)).

Schools in Richmond, including Hugh Boyd Secondary School, will be in session as per normal schedules and the usual attendance procedures will be in place. If your student/s depend upon public transportation to get to and from school, we ask that you prepare to make alternate arrangements.

Please be assured that students who, due to the transit shutdown, are late, miss tests, or are unable to find transport to and from school will not be penalized. Parents are asked to follow Boyd’s regular procedure of calling the school office at 604-668-7813 to advise of any absences.  Students who, due to the strike, are unable to be present for an in-class assessment are asked to contact their teacher by email to make alternate arrangements as soon as possible.

It is important to note that being absent from school can significantly and negatively impact a student’s achievement and success.

We also advise parents and caregivers to keep up to date with BC news on the transit strike, to follow TransLink Alerts at www.translink.ca(link is external) announcements.

Should you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call the school office.
