Reading Riot (December 16 - April 9)


The Richmond Reading Riot is back for its 6th year.  Secondary school teacher librarians across the school district has chosen ten titles in conjunction with support from the Richmond Public Library’s teen librarians that reflect diversity of perspectives & genres, topical themes, and the joy of reading for the fun of it.  Your level of participation is totally up to you. Students can start checking out books TODAY!

How do I participate?

  • Come down to the library to look at the 10 chosen titles
  • Check out and read as many of the 10 titles as you wish (2 weeks for novels, 1 week for graphic novels) during Dec 16th, 2020-April 9th, 2021. 
  • Read them all for a big grand prize draw
  • Rate each book from 1-5 stars on the ballot form you will be given with your book
  • Return the ballot into the 2021 READING RIOT ballot box in the library

Why should I participate?

  • Read some great books from great authors
  • Read a genre that you haven’t read before
  • Weekly draw prizes chosen from the ballots cast
  • Monthly prizes for most books read that month
  • Grand prize giveaways in April
    • All readers will get a prize for participating!
