Hugh Boyd Secondary School is excited to engage in a pilot project around Personal Learning Time (PLT) from January to June, 2019. The aim of PLT is for students to exercise self-direction and self-management in their learning, as well as to seek additional support to have more success in their courses.
This spring, we will be engaging in a consultative process with students, parents, and staff to determine our course of action with respect to PLT for the 2019/20 school year. One of the attached documents on this page outlines the concept of PLT, which aligns with the philosophy of British Columbia's new curriculum.
PLT DATES: January 16th and 30th, February 27th, March 6th and 13th, April 10th and 24th, May 8th, 22nd, and 29th, June 12th and 19th
Grade 11 and 12 students can now sign-up with any teacher for PLT.
Grade 8, 9, and 10 students are to sign-up with one of their enrolling teachers.
Teachers are organizing specific themed sessions for the following PLT sessions:
May 8th - Managing Your Stress (CHIMO)
May 22nd - Sexual Integrity (Crisis Pregnancy Centre)
June 12th - Relationship Abuse (Part 1 - CHIMO)
June 19th - Relationship Abuse (Part 2 - CHIMO)
