Student Notices - June 14, 2021

  • MYP Service Hours for grades 8 through 10 are now overdue. Those who were missing their hours were given a physical copy of the service hours sheet to fill in and drop off. There are still several outstanding. Please get either their online forms through Teams or physical copy to Mrs. Korber no later than June 15th so we can finalize the comments for your report card about your service completion.  As well, this week students in 8 to10 are to complete their ATL reflection which is our version of the core competency reflection and is a MINISTRY OF EDUCATION requirement. 8’s will get time in classes on June 14th, 9’s the morning of June 15th and 10’s are asked to complete them in the morning or afternoon period where they are not in attendance at school. These are all due no later than June 18th. These forms are on Teams in your grade 8 or 9 MYP Team or through the Grade 10 Personal Project Team.

  • We are halfway through June, and that means there are couple of weeks left of National Indigenous History Month!  There are biographies of amazing Indigenous history makers, as well as Information on different First Nations in BC, all around the school.  Scan QR codes to learn more about the First Nations Peoples in our community.  There is also information on the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s 94 Calls to Action, as well as the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, which is also called UNDRIP. It just takes 3 seconds to scan, and then taking the time to learn, so we can all take the step towards reconciliation.  June is also Pride Month.  Be sure to check out the Library’s extensive collection of SOGI resources and fiction.  Happy Pride!  If you have Instagram, be sure to follow @hughboydlibrary for updates on new titles, recommended resources, library and school, events, and much more.
