A HUGE THANK YOU to all who supported our various fundraisers throughout the 2020/2021 school year!  Your support has helped us send off the Class of 2021 with a commemorative gift and a modified celebration in their honour.  We couldn’t have done it without your generous support!

ALL ABOARD...NEW AFTERGRAD COMMITTEE NEEDED:

With the end of the school year imminently upon us, and no current Committee members returning next year, it is especially important for the parent community to consider stepping up to start planning for next year's Class of 2022 AfterGrad event.  While this year has been particularly challenging due to all things Covid, hopefully, things will revert to a more traditional event for next year's graduating students. That being said, nothing will happen if there are no parents to do the sometimes arduous - but overall, rewarding - work to organize any event which may be allowed.  Please consider volunteering your time and enthusiasm to a very worthwhile cause - a memorable celebration for your special kids!  You don't even need to be the parent of a graduating student; in fact, it would be helpful if there was some continuity between years.   While Nicole is leaving the Boyd school community, Mietta has another grad to go in a few years so can be available for any transitional assistance.  Moreover, there is a helpful binder and online documentation to help you get started in your planning (and, Mr. Leslie's really approachable for school liaison matters ;-).  If you are interested, please email current AfterGrad Co-Chairs, Mietta Allchin (mallchin@shaw.ca) and Nicole Hawthorne (ejhawthorne@gmail.com).  Alternately, please email boyd@sd38.bc.ca and your email will be directed accordingly.

Business part of the message over; now the fun stuff!  A HUGE THANK YOU to this year's Committee members, who pulled together through thick and thin; "Team", it was a pleasure working with you!  A great opportunity to reconnect with elementary and preschool parents, as well as meet new parents.  And, for those parents who are leaving the Boyd community; we wish you and your families well.

Also helping us coordinate and execute many different efforts, we would like to recognize - and extend a heartfelt thank you to - any and all student volunteers and staff who helped us throughout the year, including administrators, office support staff, Grad Committee sponsor teachers and custodians.  In particular, we'd like to thank Mr. Leslie (and, Mr. Johal before him), Ms. Lacson, Ms. Robinson, Ms. Balaciano and Mr. Chan; we really couldn't have done it without you ;-)

And, of course, how could we forget our graduates?!  Huge CONGRATULATIONS to the entire CLASS OF 2021; YOU DID IT!  And, during a pandemic no less; WELL DONE!!  Wishing you ALL well in your future endeavours.

Have a safe and happy summer everyone!

On behalf of the AfterGrad Committee,

your 2021 Co-Chairs,

Mietta and Nicole
