Breaking Down the Walls Student Leadership Application

You are invited!

We are excited to announce that we have confirmed new dates for the Breaking Down the Walls (BDTW) Program, which will run from Monday, December 5 - Wednesday, December 7, 2022.  All students will have the opportunity to participate in a school-wide assembly and students can also choose to become a trained workshop facilitator or sign up for a workshop with friends.

The purpose of the Breaking Down the Walls Program is to support the sense of school pride at Boyd.  The program gives all students and staff, regardless of their peer group, permission to talk to one another and hear each other’s stories.  It was created to help strengthen empathy and understanding for each other throughout the school.  It also provides an opportunity to have fun, share stories and to realize that we have a lot more in common than we do different.

We are looking for 50 student leaders from grades 8-12.  Student leaders will:

  1. Participate in a facilitator training session on the afternoon of Monday, December 5.
  2. Help to facilitate a workshop session on Tuesday, December 5 or Wednesday, December 7 – please note that facilitators will need to be available for the entire workshop session.

**Please note that students will be responsible for missed work – please speak to your teachers in advance.  They are aware of this leadership opportunity.

To apply to become a student leader, please go to:  Breaking Down the Walls Student Leadership Application.  If you completed the application previously, we will reach out to you to confirm whether you still want to participate.

Deadline to apply to be a student leader is Monday, November 14 @ 3:00pm.  If you have any questions, please see Ms. Mahli, Mr. Onukwulu or Ms. Poon in the office.

We will invite students to sign up for the workshops shortly – stay tuned!
