Grade Distributions
One of the School Story goals for Hugh Boyd Secondary School is Student Connectedness and Engagement. We have spent a tremendous amount of time at Hugh Boyd building a sense of community and showing care for others, ourselves and our building. We speak with our students about what they are proud of, what their goals are, how they push themselves, and how much they feel cared for when at Hugh Boyd. The answers to these questions come out anecdotally with statements such as:
- “I LOVE this school”
- “I feel connected at this school”
- “People here KNOW me”
- “I feel like people CARE about me at Hugh Boyd”
Evidence also shows up in our Student Learning Survey data with results such as:

This data is very informative, and we are looking forward at comparing Grade Distribution data to new information that comes forward in the 2024/25 school year.
In our Student Learning Surveys, the numbers of students reporting as being dissatisfied with our school are remarkably low (under 5%), but we would like to reduce the number of students who are not feeling welcome and safe at school to Zero! This will be our goal moving forward.
We also note that our Numeracy scores indicate a need to concentrate our efforts on supporting students achieve better in Numeracy assessments. This will be a school and district-wide focus for the coming years as we try to help more students meet with better success in their Numeracy assessment.
So much information, and much of it very positive about our school.
But also some trends and suggestions for areas that require our attention. Much to look forward to!
