Online Learning with Richmond Virtual School (RVS)

Richmond Virtual School (RVS) is the Richmond School District's provider of kindergarten to grade 12 online courses and programs. Classes are all full credit, Ministry of Education, courses that receive the same credits as a regular high school course. We have one of the highest completion rates in the province which we attribute to the fact that students have regular meetings with their teachers. Most of the meetings are held in central Richmond at R.C. Palmer Secondary. Some of our courses are "school-based" and they are located within the host school at a time arranged by the teacher.  These meetings allow students to make important connections with their teacher, receive instruction, write tests, complete labs, and receive support with questions.

New Changes to Online Course Registration

As of July 1, 2023, School Districts may only enrol a student in online learning classes if the student resides within the school district’s geographic boundaries (ex. Richmond residents can no longer enrol in online schools outside of the Richmond School District).  Students who wish to take online courses will either need to register with Richmond Virtual School or with one of the Ministry-approved, provincial online course providers.
