Awards Ceremonies and Student Recognition
As an International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program school, we spend tremendous time trying to help the students at Hugh Boyd become inquisitive, compassionate, respectful globally aware citizens. We are pleased to find that our efforts are resulting in positive behaviours and impressive accomplishments for all our students.
Evidence of these successes were found in the Awards assemblies that took place on the final day of school, Friday, June 21st. We hosted several ceremonies and recognized students for accomplishments in Academics, Service, Athletics, Performance, Top Subject Awards, as well as Merit recognition for outstanding citizenship. The numbers of students recognized in these ceremonies were remarkable:
- Grade 8-102 (total population 131)
- Grade 9-103 (total population 118)
- Grade 10-114 (total population 141)
- Grade 11-126 (total population 158)
- Grade 12-128 awards and 68 scholarships (total population 137)
While some students won multiple awards, this data demonstrates that our students are doing remarkably well in school in a wide variety of ways (citizenship, leadership, athletics, academics, performance, service). We will also be looking at Grade Distributions and the number of students achieving Honour Roll status in the coming weeks for more data that confirms what we suspect… that our students are meeting with tremendous success!
We are very proud of all that has been accomplished at Hugh Boyd this year and look to continue this trend of recognizing and celebrating excellence in all areas in the future!
Congratulations to all students and staff at Hugh Boyd!
