School Timetable for 2022-23

At the start of the 2020-21 school year, all Richmond high schools switched to the Quarter system due to the pandemic. In 2021-22, the district again decided to put all schools on the semester system in attempts to minimize disruptions.

For 2022-23, schools were given the opportunity to decide if they wanted to return to Linear, stay with Semester or try something different. Hugh Boyd decided to continue with the Semester model, in large part because students and parents had expressed a desire to stay with only 4 courses at once.

Boyd has also decided to bring back PLT (Personal Learning Time). The school had introduced PLT previously (prior to the pandemic) and had placed it between periods 1 and 2, requiring that all students engaged with one of their teachers in order to get some extra support. While many other schools in Richmond had PLT last year, Boyd did not have PLT due to it being too long (100 minutes twice per week) and first thing in the morning.  Boyd will be bringing PLT back from 8:30-9:25 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We hope many students take advantage of the opportunity to get extra help, make up missed work and exams or pursue areas of passion.

We are encouraged and excited to see all our students again in September 2022. We are looking forward to continuing with the Semester model and reintroducing the PLT to our timetable.  We hope it helps students’ levels of engagement and success.
