MYP Review Preparation

Hugh Boyd is entering its review year on the MYP cycle, and we are preparing for a visit from the staff at International Baccalaureate.  2022-23 will be a busy year, following the departure of one of our MYP Lead teachers, but we are excited to meet with the International Baccalaureate staff and present all the great initiatives that Hugh Boyd has been engaged with.

The timeline of our efforts in 2021-22 has been:

  1. We collected BQC (Building Quality Curriculum) Unit plans from each department in late January
  2. Revisions were due by the end of February
  3. Personal Projects were due and presented by all Grade 10 students in early March
  4. We reviewed and revised all MYP policies in early April
  5. Staff were asked for MYP questionnaire to be submitted by end of April
    1. Educational Facilitators Self-Study for departments in mid-April as well as individual self-study questionnaire for all staff
  6. Departments submitted ATL (Approaches To Learning) planning charts by May 25th
  7. Students submitted ATL reflection sheets and Service Hour sheets in the beginning of June
  8. In 2022-23 we will enter the Evaluation and Final Report process
  9. The Hugh Boyd Middle Years program has been very effective in creating fantastic learning opportunities for our students and has been instrumental in developing students who are:
    1. Inquirers
    2. Knowledgeable
    3. Thinkers
    4. Communicators
    5. Principled
    6. Open-minded
